3 Things You Should Know Before Your Trip to Mystic Mountain, Rainforest Adventures (Jamaica)

PLANNING A TRIP TO MYSTIC MOUNTAIN, JAMAICA? - HERE ARE A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU START PACKING!

The town of Ocho Rios is located on the north coast of Jamaica. This area is primarily known for its beautiful waterfalls, white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, rivers and unique flora and fauna. Not only this, but its vast tropical rainforest is quite noteworthy, as it forms a vital part of the picturesque landscape that Jamaica offers. The country of Jamaica is known for attractions such as: the infamous Dunn’s River Falls, Dolphin Cove and not to mention the Kool Runnings Water Park. However, Mystic Mountain Rainforest Adventures is an attraction that is quite underrated. But, it is certainly the go-to experience for 'adrenaline junkies' who crave experiences that are petrifying yet gratifying. Here is a list of 3 things you should keep in mind before planning your trip to Mystic Mountain, Rainforest Adventures:

SELECT PACKAGES CAREFULLY

Mystic Mountain (Jamaica) offers several packages from which individuals can choose from as they curate their own unique rainforest adventures. There are also a few other packages that include a trip to Dunn’s River Falls. However, the packages listed below include attractions that are only available at Mystic Mountain (Jamaica).

The pricing for attractions is based on the specific package that you select. Here are a few of the main packages that you can choose from:

Mystic Mountain- Sky Lift Tour

• Sky Lift Tour- the sky lift tour includes riding a chair- lift atleast 700 feet above the rainforest.

• Canopy Zip Line Tour- includes zip lining and the sky lift tour.

• Tranopy Tour- includes zip lining, the sky lift tour and the bobsled ride.

• Bobsled Tour- includes the sky lift tour and the bobsled ride.

• Fun Bobsled × 2- includes the sky lift tour and the ability to ride the bobsled twice.

Anecdotally, when my brother and I began planning our trip to Mystic Mountain, we looked online at the various packages that were available. We were quite conflicted in choosing between the Bobsled ride and the Sky Lift Tour. We finally came to a consensus that the Bobsled ride would best fit the experience we were looking for. Guys, in our heads, we thought that we would essentially be experiencing two different rides for the price stated - and I guess you could kind of say we did. But, what I had realized is that it was not clearly communicated that the Sky Lift Tour was the main and only mode of transportation to the other rides (including the Bobsled ride and the Canopy Zip Line Tour). Hence, in order to go zip lining or bobsledding, you have no other choice but to take the Sky Lift. Let me break it down for you. If you had only purchased the Sky Lift Tour package... then that's all you'd get. The Sky Lift Tour would take you to the top of the mountain which would be approximately 20 minutes (40 minutes both ways ) where you would be able to go swimming at the on-site pool in addition to purchasing souvenirs. You would then hop back on the chair-lift that would bring you back down the mountain. Thus, if I were to go to Mystic Mountain and had only experienced the Sky Lift Tour, I would then be quite disappointed and somewhat underwhelmed.

However, I would be doing a disservice if I failed to mention the breathtaking and awe-inspiring view, which was worth every penny spent. To say nothing of the thrill and excitement garnered from soaring 700-feet above the rainforest while your feet swayed back and forth. Without a doubt, it is the ideal experience for those willing to step outside of their comfort zones or individuals who enjoy riveting escapades.

SAVE SOME DOLLARS

There are a few ways by which you can save some money if you are planning a trip to Mystic Mountain, Rainforest Adventures anytime soon. Brawta Living and/or Gustazos (Jamaica) offers discounted prices on goods and services. If you are lucky, you may be able to come by a great deal on one of these sites. So, before you purchase your tickets online or at the ticket outlet, be sure to check out these sites in order to obtain the best deals possible! Not only this, but more often than not, there are online specials (i.e. 20% off) for select packages on the Mystic Mountain, Rainforest Adventures website.

TAKE EVERYTHING YOU WILL NEED

I think a mistake I had made when I had visited Mystic Mountain, was leaving my swimwear, towel and extra clothing in the vehicle. As I previously stated, I was under the impression that each attraction would of been on the ground level; hence, I would easily be able to grab my things whenever I needed to. Unbeknownst to me, the Sky Lift was the only mode of transportation to the top of the mountain where the other attractions were. Thus, considering that we had arrived at Mystic Mountain a bit late, we were not able to experience both attractions and journey down the mountain in time before the park closed. So, I suggest that if you are planning to eat at the mystic dining area or swim at the pool, bring everything you may need with you (i.e. cameras, swimwear, towels etc). Because as I said earlier, in order to get to the other attractions you have to take the chair-lift and if it’s too late to make the trip down the mountain and back up, then you’re out of luck... as we were.

1. If you are planning on going to Mystic Mountain, I highly recommend that you opt to do the Bobsled Tour, Canopy Zipline Tour or the Tranopy Zipline Tour. You will get the most out of your rainforest adventure... I am sure of it!
